W. C. Heinz

W. C. Heinz, born Wilfred Charles Heinz (January 11, 1915 – February 27, 2008), was an esteemed American sportswriter, war correspondent, and author. He is well-known for his concise and evocative prose, particularly in the field of sports journalism. Heinz co-wrote the book 'MASH: A Novel About Three Army Doctors' with Dr. H. Richard Hornberger under the pen name Richard Hooker, which was the basis for the film and television series 'M*A*S*H'.
