Bertrand Russell

British philosopher, logician, mathematician and public intellectual (1872–1970). A founder of analytic philosophy and major contributor to logic and the philosophy of mathematics (co-author of Principia Mathematica), he was also a social critic and political activist and received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1950.
