1. Divine Hiddenness And Human Reason
The book argues that the widespread phenomenon of reasonable nonbelief—sincere, intellectually responsible nonbelief in God by open-minded seekers—constitutes significant evidence against the existence of a perfectly loving, omnipotent God, on the grounds that such a God would ensure that those willing to enter a relationship could come to belief. It formulates an argument from divine hiddenness, examines and responds to major theistic replies, and investigates the implications for religious epistemology, faith, agnosticism, and theodicy, concluding that divine hiddenness presents a serious challenge to classical theism while allowing for reassessment of divine attributes or alternative explanations.
