Joseph Brodsky

Russian-American poet and essayist, born in Leningrad in 1940; exiled from the Soviet Union in 1972 and emigrated to the United States. Awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1987 and served as U.S. Poet Laureate (1991–1992).
