Mungo Park

Mungo Park was a Scottish explorer of the African continent. He is best known for his exploration of the Niger River. His travels are documented in his popular and influential book 'Travels in the Interior Districts of Africa' in which he detailed his journeys, the geography, and the cultures he encountered. Park's work provided much new information about the largely unexplored continent of Africa during the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
