Francis Chichester

Sir Francis Chichester was a pioneering aviator and solo sailor. He is best known for being the first person to sail single-handedly around the world by the clipper route, and the fastest circumnavigator, in his boat Gipsy Moth IV, between 1966 and 1967. He was also a successful businessman, author, and navigator. His books about his voyages became bestsellers and inspired generations of sailors and adventurers.
