1. Church And Religion In The Ussr
It examines the Soviet state's treatment of religion—especially the Orthodox Church and other faith communities—tracing the ideological foundations of Marxist‑Leninist atheism and the legal, administrative and repressive measures used to control, suppress or co‑opt religious institutions. The narrative follows shifts in policy from the revolutionary period through Stalin, wartime concessions, Khrushchev‑era campaigns and later adjustments, shows how clergy and believers adapted through survival strategies, clandestine practice and negotiation with authorities, and assesses the social, cultural and international consequences of state‑imposed secularization and constrained religious life.
