Saikaku Ihara

Japanese Edo-period poet and novelist, prominent haikai poet who became a leading writer of ukiyo-zōshi (books of the 'floating world'). Known for vivid, often comic depictions of urban commoner life; notable work includes The Life of an Amorous Man.
