Christopher Isherwood

English-born novelist, playwright and diarist (1904–1986), best known for Goodbye to Berlin (basis for the musical Cabaret) and A Single Man. Emigrated to the United States and became a naturalized American; an influential 20th-century writer and openly gay literary figure.
