Roman Stoic philosopher, statesman, and playwright (c. 4 BCE–AD 65). Tutor and later advisor to Emperor Nero; author of philosophical essays, the Letters to Lucilius, and several tragedies. Forced to commit suicide after involvement in the Pisonian conspiracy.
