Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay

Indian novelist, poet and journalist (1838–1894), a major figure in 19th-century Bengali literature and the Bengali Renaissance; author of novels such as Durgeshnandini and Anandamath (which popularized the song 'Vande Mataram').
