Lew Wallace
Lewis Wallace, better known as Lew Wallace, was an American lawyer, Union general in the American Civil War, governor of the New Mexico Territory, politician, diplomat, and author. He is best known for his historical novel 'Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ' (1880), which became a bestseller and was adapted into several successful films.
