Polybius

Polybius (c. 200 – c. 118 BCE) was an ancient Greek historian known for his work 'The Histories,' which covered the period of 264–146 BCE in detail. The work described the rise of the Roman Republic and its domination over Greece. Polybius was also notable for his analysis of the mixed constitution and the separation of powers, which influenced later political thinkers and the framers of the United States Constitution.
