Apuleius

Apuleius was a Latin-language prose writer, Platonist philosopher, and rhetorician who lived in the 2nd century AD. He is best known for his novel 'The Golden Ass' (also known as 'Metamorphoses'), which is the only Latin novel to survive in its entirety. The novel is a mixture of romantic adventure, fantasy, and religious fable, and it is noted for its rich and humorous storytelling. Apuleius was also known for his other works, including 'Apologia', a defense against accusations of practicing magic, and 'De Deo Socratis', concerning the nature of demons. His works provide valuable insights into the religious practices and daily life of the Roman Empire.
