Thomas Mofolo

Thomas Mokopu Mofolo was a Basotho author, best known for his novel 'Chaka', which narrates the life of the Zulu king Shaka. Born on 22 December 1876 in Khojane, Lesotho, Mofolo worked as a teacher and later as a translator. His work is considered pioneering in African literature, particularly within Lesotho, and he wrote in Sesotho. Mofolo's contributions to literature have been influential in shaping African literary history. He passed away on 8 September 1948.
