Bernardo Atxaga

Bernardo Atxaga is a contemporary Basque writer, whose real name is Joseba Irazu Garmendia. He is best known for his novels and poetry, and his works often explore themes of memory, identity, and the complexities of the human experience. Atxaga writes primarily in Basque and Spanish, and his books have been translated into more than twenty languages. Among his most famous works is 'Obabakoak', which won the National Prize for Literature in Spain and has garnered international acclaim.
