Ed McBain

Ed McBain was the pen name of Evan Hunter, an American author and screenwriter. He was born on October 15, 1926, and passed away on July 6, 2005. McBain was best known for his 87th Precinct series of police procedural novels, which he began in 1956 with 'Cop Hater' and continued for over 50 years. His work in the crime fiction genre has been highly influential, and he is often credited with popularizing the police procedural subgenre. In addition to his work under the name Ed McBain, he also wrote under his birth name and several other pseudonyms.
