Nicholas Blake

Nicholas Blake is the pseudonym of Cecil Day-Lewis (1904–1972), who was a British poet and the UK Poet Laureate from 1968 until his death. In addition to his poetry, Day-Lewis wrote detective novels under the name Nicholas Blake. His most famous creation is the amateur detective Nigel Strangeways, who features in a series of whodunit novels that were popular in the 1930s and beyond.
