The Thin Executioner by Han Shan
Set in a fantastical world, the story follows Jebel Rum, a young boy from the city of Wadi, who embarks on a perilous journey to prove his worth and earn the title of executioner, a position of great honor in his society. Driven by a desire to gain respect and overcome his perceived weaknesses, Jebel sets out on a quest to the distant mountain of Tubaygat, where he hopes to gain invincibility by bathing in the blood of a mythical fire god. Accompanied by a slave named Tel Hesani, Jebel faces numerous challenges and moral dilemmas that force him to confront his beliefs about power, sacrifice, and the true meaning of strength.
