D'ale Carnavalului by Mateiu I. Caragiale

Amid the boisterous revelry of a Bucharest carnival, a charming barber juggles two romantic entanglements, setting off a chain of jealousy, forged letters, disguises, and mistaken identities. As gossip and suspicion whirl through parlors and masked balls, petty vanities and rivalries erupt into comic confrontations, ultimately deflating in a wry anticlimax that exposes the superficiality and hypocrisy of the petty bourgeois world.
