Esfera by Michael Crichton
A team of scientists and military specialists is sent to investigate a mysterious alien spacecraft discovered on the ocean floor, where they find a perfect metal sphere whose presence triggers increasingly vivid and dangerous manifestations drawn from the crew’s subconscious minds. As paranoia and hallucinations escalate, the isolated group must confront both external threats and their own inner fears while the boundary between imagination and reality breaks down, forcing them to wrestle with the ethical and psychological consequences of a power that can make thought into fact.
