Χαρταετοί πάνω απ΄την πόλη by Khaled Hosseini
Set against decades of Afghanistan's upheaval, the novel follows a privileged boy who betrays his loyal childhood friend and is haunted by guilt. After emigrating to the United States, he struggles with remorse and later returns to his homeland to confront the consequences of his betrayal, the brutality of the Taliban era, and to seek redemption by protecting the friend's orphaned son. Themes of friendship, betrayal, guilt, and forgiveness are woven into a moving coming-of-age and moral reckoning.
