The Fisherman And The Goldfish by Alexander Pushkin

An impoverished fisherman releases a magical golden fish that offers to grant any wish in gratitude, and at first his kind, timid requests bring simple comforts; but his wife’s greed escalates from a new home to wealth and political power until her final, presumptuous demand upsets the natural order, whereupon the fish undoes all the favors and the couple return to their original poverty, leaving a clear moral about the dangers of insatiable desire and the value of modesty.
