After surviving severe brain injury and undergoing an experimental treatment, a man’s cognitive abilities expand far beyond ordinary limits; as he learns to reconfigure his mind and perception, he gains extraordinary analytical and problem-solving powers but also experiences profound isolation and moral uncertainty, and when he encounters another person with similar enhancements their meeting escalates into a tense intellectual confrontation that forces him to confront the implications of hyperintelligence for identity, power, and human connection.
