Being the First Part of The Lord of the Rings

A young hobbit unexpectedly inherits a mysterious and dangerous ring and must leave his peaceful home to carry it to a distant refuge, where a council decides it must be destroyed to stop a rising dark power; a diverse company—hobbits, a wizard, a ranger, an elf, a dwarf, and a nobleman—forms to escort him on the perilous journey, facing treacherous landscapes, the fall of a guide in a cavernous mine, the solace and counsel of an elven refuge, and mounting tensions within the group until betrayal and the burden of the ring force the hobbit to set out alone with a loyal friend, breaking the fellowship and propelling the quest into a darker, uncertain phase.
