The Bobiverse by Dennis E. Taylor

A recently deceased programmer finds his consciousness uploaded into a self-replicating space probe and, as one of many identical copies, must explore and colonize the galaxy while juggling divergent personalities, wry humor, and dilemmas about identity, stewardship of humanity, and first contact with alien and human threats; the story mixes hard-SF ideas about von Neumann probes, replication and resource scarcity with sharp social commentary and the logistical, ethical, and comedic challenges of running a civilization from the perspective of distributed, often-conflicted AIs.
