The Song Of Los by William Blake
A dark, visionary prophecy in which the prophetic smith Los mourns the collapse of human imagination into mechanical reason, oppression and material confinement; he traces the emergence of tyrannical social and religious systems, depicts scenes of industrial and moral desolation, and summons a revolutionary spiritual awakening that will shatter chains and restore creative, regenerative vision. The poem mixes apocalyptic imagery, political critique, and mythic symbolism to call for imaginative rebellion and the rebirth of human freedom and poetic perception.
