Zeitbeben by Kurt Vonnegut

A metafictional novel in which a cosmic disturbance causes time to skip back ten years, forcing everyone to replay a decade of their lives with no free will; when agency suddenly returns people must confront the consequences of actions they were compelled to repeat. The narrator inserts himself into the story, blending personal reminiscence, dark humor and fantastical episodes while reflecting on mortality, responsibility and the small duty of being decent to one another, and he tries to rally others to choose compassion and authenticity in the aftermath.
