Dragon Teeth by Michael Crichton
Set in the tumultuous period of the late 19th century, the story follows William Johnson, a privileged and somewhat naive college student who becomes embroiled in the fierce rivalry between two real-life paleontologists, Othniel Charles Marsh and Edward Drinker Cope. As Johnson joins an expedition to the American West to search for dinosaur fossils, he encounters the harsh realities of the frontier, including hostile Native American tribes, treacherous terrain, and the cutthroat competition between the two scientists.
