The Girls Of August by Anne Rivers Siddons
The novel follows a group of four women who have maintained a tradition of vacationing together every August since their husbands met in medical school. After the death of one of the women, the group struggles to maintain their bond, especially when a new, younger wife joins them on their annual trip to a beach house on a remote island. As tensions rise and secrets are revealed, the women confront their pasts and the changes in their lives, ultimately rediscovering the strength of their friendship and the importance of forgiveness and understanding.
