Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell
A young child writes to a zoo requesting a pet, and the zoo responds by sending a series of animals, each unsuitable for various reasons. From a too-tall giraffe to a too-fierce lion, the child receives a variety of creatures, each returned for being too big, too scary, or too jumpy. Eventually, the zoo sends the perfect pet, a puppy, which is just right for the child. The story unfolds through a series of lift-the-flap pages, engaging young readers in a delightful guessing game about which animal will come next.
