Irma S. Rombauer

Irma S. Rombauer was an American cookbook author, best known for her book 'The Joy of Cooking'. First published in 1931, it became one of the United States' most published cookbooks, with numerous editions that have been updated to reflect changing tastes and food practices. Rombauer self-published the first edition but it was later picked up by a commercial printing house. Her book has been influential in teaching Americans how to cook and is considered a staple in many kitchens.
