Eine Minute Der Menschheit. by Stanislaw Lem

A fictional, satirical dossier that catalogues the complete statistical record of what happens during a single minute of human existence—births, deaths, crimes, accidents, broadcasts and countless trivial acts—presented as cold, forensic data with footnotes and commentary. The juxtaposition of massive, impersonal numbers and imagined individual stories becomes a darkly comic meditation on how statistics can flatten human lives, be co-opted by bureaucracy and ideology, and reveal both banality and horror. Through pseudo-academic framing and interpretive asides, the work probes the limits of knowledge, the power and danger of information, and the ethical consequences of quantifying humanity.
