Ansichten des Digitalen

The book analyzes how digital networks have transformed social life into a dispersed “swarm” of exposed, atomized subjects whose interactions are governed by algorithms, likes and viral dynamics; transparency becomes coercive, privacy evaporates, and attention is commodified. It argues that the collapse of distance and negativity—along with the erosion of symbolic mediation and genuine otherness—turns politics and discourse into affective contagion and opinion markets, while recommendation systems and datafication produce conformity through positive feedback. Ultimately, this soft power of the swarm undermines critical dissent, agency and the conditions for meaningful resistance.
